Days of Our Lives spoilers confirm that Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) will support Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) after she receives devastating news on Friday, August 7, 2026. This latest development between Joy and Alex comes as the two have begun to have a custody conflict over Kelsey — and all because of Alex’s wife, Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein), and her recent actions. 

Could this devastating news end up pushing Joy and Alex closer together… especially as Joy is clearly wanting Stephanie out of Kelsey’s life for good?

Alex & Joy’s Rocky Fight Over Kelsey & Stephanie

A few months ago, Joy returned to Salem after more than a year away with her baby daughter, Kelsey. Joy had initially left town in 2025, secretly pregnant with Alex’s baby after lying to him about the whole thing. Her return quickly forced Alex to become a father — and forced him to try to be a good father to Kelsey while also keeping his precarious marriage to Stephanie from falling apart.

This entire situation got much worse after Joy and Kelsey were in a car accident. After Joy called Alex asking for help, Stephanie deleted the voicemail. Stephanie has begun to believe that Joy is trying to manipulate Alex — and she won’t stand for it. However, the accident was real, and little Kelsey had a bruised clavicle.

Here’s where it gets interesting — and where the story might lead to these new Days of Our Lives spoilers. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) wanted to examine Joy after the accident as well, but Joy refused. She insisted she was fine. It was only later that Alex discovered that Stephanie had deleted the message Joy had left him.

Thanks to this incident — as well as Stephanie firing a gun at Joy by accident — the conflict has exploded between all involved. Now, Joy’s anger at Stephanie’s actions has affected her and Alex’s custody agreement. 

Recently on DOOL, Joy refused to accept any arrangement where, if something happened to her, Alex and Stephanie would gain full custody of Kelsey. Joy doesn’t want Stephanie to have any part of Stephanie’s life. She also demanded that Alex’s time with Kelsey would not include Stephanie at all. Alex, of course, rejected this idea.

Things haven’t gotten better. As previous Days of Our Lives spoilers hinted at, Joy sought out Belle Black (Martha Madison) for advice on the situation. Though Belle tried to convince Joy that compromise was best, Joy had yet another confrontation with Stephanie. Now, she’s threatening to return to New York with Kelsey. 

Obviously, Alex is doing his best to convince Joy to stay with his daughter in Salem. Alex and Stephanie have definitely struggled in the last few months, ever since Stephanie’s traumatic situation of being stalked and kidnapped, and now it doesn’t look like the two are seeing eye to eye. So, could this latest Joy spoiler hint that Alex will comfort her… even if it pushes Stephanie away?

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: What Is Joy’s Devastating News?

Joy gets devastating news this week on DOOL. While these new spoilers don’t indicate what, exactly, this news entails, it clearly is shocking to her — and sends Alex to her side for support. 

Could this news have anything to do with a medical crisis? After all, it wasn’t too long ago that Joy refused Kayla’s examination after her car accident. If Kelsey was injured, why wouldn’t Joy be? Meanwhile, in the weekly preview footage, Joy cries out while she’s trying to lift Kelsey’s carrier. She then reaches for her arm in pain.

Clearly, these new Days of Our Lives spoilers hint that Joy might have a medical episode soon. It could be linked to that car accident. 

Regardless of what the news is, it’s also clear that Alex is going to support Joy. However, this does come at a dangerous moment in his marriage. Stephanie has been very vocal in her idea that Joy is using Kelsey to pull Alex closer — and to ruin their marriage. Joy has even admitted that she has a dream where she and Alex are together for Kelsey.

Now, just because Alex is supporting Joy, this doesn’t mean that the two are headed for any sort of a romantic reunion. Despite all of their many issues, Alex still loves Stephanie. However, a serious health problem could make Alex more protective of Joy — and further complicate his marriage with Stephanie.

Can Alex and Stephanie’s marriage survive this latest twist?
