  • Mariah’s Return Home Is the Beginning of Her Hardest Y&R Story Yet

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes)

Young and the Restless spoilers confirm Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) returns home to Genoa City on Monday, August 3, 2026. Mariah’s return follows her court-ordered inpatient psychiatric treatment after she kidnapped Dominic Winters.

Thanks to her plea agreement, Mariah was able to be placed on probation and seek treatment at a mental health facility, rather than face prison time. This plea deal led to even more drama between Mariah and Dominic’s parents, Devon Winters (Bryton James) and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway).

Now that Mariah is returning home, she has quite a lot of drama she has to face. She must face Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and their daughter, Aria, as well as her mother, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). While her family has been there to support her, will Mariah manage to regain their full trust again?

And then, there’s Devon and Abby. Can Mariah face accountability while also rebuilding her life in Genoa City?

Why Was Mariah Away From Genoa City?

Recently on Y&R, Mariah had a breakdown that began before she ever thought about abducting Dominic. This breakdown led her to withdraw from her family, especially Tessa and Aria. Though she sought treatment in Boston, she began to struggle with hallucinations involving Ian Ward (Ray Wise).

Her deteriorating mental health eventually led her to fixate on Dominic. After all, Mariah was Abby’s surrogate. Mariah carried Dominic and gave birth to him in rather terrifying circumstances. This trauma came back to impact Mariah, as she never properly dealt with all she went through years ago.

As previous Young and the Restless spoilers hinted at, Mariah’s unresolved trauma led to her kidnapping Dominic and moving him from place to place, even as the Newman and Winters families desperately tried to find him. Mariah even tried to escape with Dominic to Mexico before the child was rescued — and Mariah was taken into custody.

Though she had been struggling with a mental health breakdown, Mariah knew that she was doing something wrong. Even when the hallucination of Ian continued to push her to do these terrible actions, Mariah worried about what she was doing and how this could affect Devon and Abby.

Later, after her arrest, Mariah continued to understand that what she did was wrong — even though she had lost contact with reality momentarily. Her condition didn’t excuse what she did. She especially struggled with her plea deal, as her treatment helped her deal with the mental illness that caused her to commit this crime of kidnapping Dom… yet did it really make her pay for her crime?

That question may continue to come into play where Mariah is concerned, especially as Devon seems to think that Mariah got off easy.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Mariah’s Return Home Doesn’t Erase What She Did

Previously on Y&R, the court accepted a negotiated resolution that included probation and inpatient psychiatric care. Mariah did not have to face incarceration, as a result. Though Tessa consistently promised to support Mariah, Devon, her old friend and the father of Dom, didn’t.

Devon made it clear to everyone that he viewed the outcome as rather inadequate. After all, Dominic and the family had to endure quite a lot of trauma because of Mariah.

Now, these new Young and the Restless spoilers hint that Mariah might have a long road ahead of her once she returns to Genoa City. It’s very clear that the people who were most affected by her actions will recover from what she did on their own timelines. For example, Abby seems more willing to understand Mariah’s mental illness and treatment than Devon.

Furthermore, Mariah can receive the effective care she needs, and Devon and Abby can understand that… while still remaining angry about what has happened. They very likely will be unwilling to restore Mariah’s previous access to Dominic. That’s expected.

Mariah has reached a new stage in her recovery now that she has been discharged and is leaving a treatment facility. She’s ready to move on with her life. However, this doesn’t mean that her family or loved ones must immediately trust her judgment or accept the apologies she gives.

Her relationship might not resume where they left off before she had her breakdown. As a result, Mariah’s in for quite a lot of hard episodes ahead — and we Y&R viewers will be there watching her every step of the way!

Mariah’s First Test: Tessa & Aria

Devon and Abby are one thing, which we’ll get to later. Tessa and Aria are another. After all, Mariah and Tessa’s marriage was very much not in a good place for quite a while before Mariah was arrested. As a result, a welcome home might not automatically restore Mariah’s marriage as she may wish.

Previously on Y&R, Tessa filed for divorce while Mariah was away. She then became romantically involved with Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei), as prior Young and the Restless spoilers hinted at.

However, once Mariah was arrested and realized she needed help, Tessa agreed to reconsider a future with her. Tessa supported her through her plea agreement and was very happy she was receiving treatment.

That doesn’t mean everything will be okay for Tessa and Mariah, though. The couple’s reunion might be rather complicated, thanks to the months of abandonment and secrecy that they faced before Mariah got help.

Furthermore, Mariah will need to show Tessa and Aria that she can provide the stability she didn’t have these past few months. Obviously, Tessa and Mariah fans will very much want to see this reunion occur. But will it be a quick reconciliation… or something that slowly happens over the next few weeks and months?

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Devon & Abby May Not Be Ready to Forgive Mariah

Mariah will almost certainly face an uphill battle where Devon is concerned. When Devon visited Mariah in treatment, he brought her a letter from Dominic. However, he also admitted that he couldn’t move past what she did.

Mariah did her best to describe how her connection to reality had completely deteriorated. Devon claimed he would try his best to forgive her, but it’s clear that his anger — and self-blame over his inability to protect his son — is still here to stay. All of this trauma has not yet been resolved.

Meanwhile, Abby also has a difficult future ahead with Mariah, as these new Young and the Restless spoilers hint. Abby may sincerely believe that Mariah is working towards recovery. She may also wish her the best. But that doesn’t mean that she’s ready to completely forgive Mariah, or allow her anywhere near Dominic.

Forgiveness, therefore, may not be anywhere in the near future where this trio is concerned. Mariah’s upcoming storyline, once she returns home, may focus on how she tries to make amends for all she’s done.
