Young and the Restless spoilers confirm that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) opens up to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) about his struggles on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. This latest Y&R spoiler comes amid Nick’s increasingly difficult recovery story.
Of course, this moment also comes after Victor has voiced his opposition to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) serving as Nick’s sponsor. Victor wants to help his son, but his ongoing hostility toward Jack has complicated matters — to say the least.
This upcoming conversation between father and son will let Nick get candid about his substance abuse battle. Nick has been stripped of his usual confidence, and he feels shame and guilt about what he has put his family through. Will Victor be able to give him the support that he needs to stay sober?

Nick’s Addiction Struggles Continue on Y&R
Nick’s recent struggles didn’t just suddenly appear. For months now, his growing addiction to pain medication — which began after he suffered from injuries in a car crash amid his growing conflict with Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) — has been a front-and-center story on Y&R.
Unfortunately, and as previous Young and the Restless spoilers hinted at, Nick’s addiction eventually led to fentanyl use — and to a near-fatal overdose.
While Nick initially acknowledged that he needed help, his recovery hasn’t been linear in any way. After he first entered rehab, he quickly checked himself out for Victor and Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) vow renewal… and then relapsed.
During this period of relapse, he met Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow) at a motel. The two used drugs together, and Marie ended up overdosing. This very frightening situation led to Nick heading back to treatment; Marie joined him.
Now, these new Young and the Restless spoilers are hinting at a father-son conversation that certainly won’t be easy. Nick’s trying to come to terms with his battle, but he has definitely struggled. Recently, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) told him that he needs to stop trying to be everybody else’s hero. He needs to examine his own problems and get the help he needs.
Nikki, meanwhile, has offered her own support to her son. As someone who has a long history with addiction and recovery, she has been perhaps the best person to understand what he’s going through.
Now, it appears as if it will be Victor’s turn to support his son.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Victor’s Fight With Jack Could Become Nick’s Fight
Victor and Nick’s father-son dynamic has always revolved around love, loyalty, and expectations. Though they both love each other, they’ve had their fair share of issues over the years — especially when the often controlling Victor thinks he knows what’s best for his son. Those moments might indeed play out here.
Plus, there is the Jack of it all. Jack isn’t randomly being inserted into Nick’s recovery storyline. He has his own history of painkiller addiction — the same addiction Nick suffers from — and Jack also momentarily served as Nikki’s sponsor.
This history makes these new Young and the Restless spoilers interesting. After all, Nikki wants Jack to be Nick’s sponsor. Jack believes he can help Nick. Victor, of course, views the entire thing differently, and he doesn’t want his enemy Jack anywhere near his son. Victor’s need to control this situation might end up pushing his son further away.
While there’s no telling if Nick will even defend the idea of Jack being his sponsor, it’s clear that this conversation between him and his father may be what Victor needs to hear. He needs to hear all of the difficulties Nick is having. If Jack can help him through this and help him stay sober, will Victor really stop that because of his own feud?
