Bold and the Beautiful has put Melissa Dylan (Sydney Bullock) in a position she shouldn’t be happy to be in: becoming Will Spencer’s (Crew Morrow) temporary escape — or potential rebound — from Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace). 

After spending the night kissing Will on the couch, Dylan admitted to Electra — her friend — that she has loved Will for quite a long time now. Though Dylan seems intent on making Will forget Electra, the sooner the better, it appears that Will is still trying to make amends with his ex-girlfriend after she broke up with him.

Dylan wants Will. However, it’s clear that Will is still focused on getting Electra back.

A New Phase in the Electra/Will/Dylan Love Triangle

Dylan originally entered the world of B&B as Hayes Finnegan’s art teacher — and then Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) dragged her into a violent plot against Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). Later, Dylan was revealed to be the driver who accidentally struck and killed Luna.

Once she confessed what happened, Dylan became homeless and lived out of her car. Enter Will and Electra, who gave her shelter and helped her out when she had basically nothing.

Rather quickly, all of that kindness became rather complicated. This is Bold and the Beautiful, after all. Dylan developed real feelings for Will while she was staying at his beach house, looking for a job and a place of her own. Electra, Will’s then-girlfriend, became increasingly uncomfortable with their closeness, but that didn’t stop Dylan and Will from becoming good friends.

Then, Electra left them alone when she went on a Forrester Creations business trip… and though Dylan promised that she would respect her boundaries, she again shared intimate moments with Will. Plus, during a previous breakup between Electra and Will, Dylan kissed him when he was emotionally vulnerable. 

Though Will and Electra eventually reconciled, the most recent Spencer-Forrester war has fractured their relationship yet again. After Will withheld information about Logan’s fashion launch and then physically fought with RJ Forrester (Brayan Nicoletti), the family told Electra she had to end things with Will. 

Electra walked away… and Dylan stepped up. Fast forward to this week on Bold and the Beautiful. Will and Electra have once again broken up — and Dylan has kissed him when he was vulnerable yet again.

Plus, Dylan has confessed to Electra that she’s actually in love with Will. But how does Will really feel about Dylan?

Bold and the Beautiful Opinion: Dylan Shouldn’t Settle for Second Place

Dylan and Will have had an interesting relationship on Bold and the Beautiful. Has Dylan crossed the line a few times with Will, even when she has said she wanted to be a good friend to Electra? Possibly.

However, that doesn’t mean she should seek out Will now. Sure, Will is now single, so there’s nothing technically wrong with Dylan pursuing him… even though she is Electra’s friend. Electra doesn’t own him, though she clearly won’t like the idea of her friend hooking up with her ex.

Dylan has spent months suppressing her feelings for Will. She now believes she can get him. However, she should remember that being available is not the same thing as being chosen. Will is still choosing Electra. He’s not seeking out Dylan and deciding that she’s the woman he wants.

Recently on Bold and the Beautiful, Will only turned to Dylan when he was very clearly grieving the end of his relationship with Electra. It’s not like he wanted to break up with Electra. Plus, it appears that Will is going to keep trying to repair things with the woman he loves — and that’s not Dylan.

Dylan has survived a lot since her character was introduced on the soap. She’s survived Luna, homelessness, the loss of her teaching job, and so much more. Now, is she really going to throw away quite a lot for Will… a man who appears to be using her as a rebound?

Obviously, this is a soap opera. So, wherever the most drama is, that’s where the storyline should go. However, one can help but feel that Dylan deserves a man who sees her as his first choice… and not just because the woman he truly loves dumped him.
