Young and the Restless spoilers confirm that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) gets an update on Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) condition on Friday, August 21, 2026. This update comes as Nick’s battle with addiction remains one of the Newman family’s biggest concerns at the moment.

Sharon’s update on Friday comes after Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) strategize about how to help their son on Wednesday. 

Nick has faced a devastating relapse. Can Sharon be the one to help him? After all the two have been through, it looks like Nick can still rely on Sharon being there for him.

Nick’s Ongoing Sobriety Struggles

Nick Newman is not in good condition. For months now, he has struggled with addiction. Though he knows he needs help — and though his family has become aware of his addiction — Nick hasn’t been able to stay sober. Recently on Y&R, he relapsed. 

Nick’s addiction first began after his enemy Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) caused a car crash that left Nick with an injured leg. As previous Young and the Restless spoilers hinted at, Nick began to become dependent on painkillers. This eventually led to fentanyl use.

By summer, Nick’s addiction had become life-threatening. During a confrontation with Matt, Nick collapsed from an overdose. This overdose finally forced the entire Newman family to realize what was happening with Nick. Throughout the summer, Nick did his best to fight temptation, though he struggled with sobriety.

Throughout it all, Sharon has been by his side. She has encouraged him to seek treatment and has told him he needs to go to rehab to get help.

Nick indeed checked himself into rehab. However, this didn’t stop him from buying and using drugs. Young and the Restless spoilers warned that Nick’s first stay in rehab wouldn’t hold. It didn’t. After leaving treatment, he bought drugs and wound up in a motel. There, he met new character Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow) and relapsed with her.

Things went from bad to worse when Marie overdosed. Nick performed CPR and called emergency services. He also called Sharon and asked for her help. Sharon went to get him and took him back to rehab. Will his treatment be able to help him this time?

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Sharon Wants to Help Nick

Last week, Nick returned to rehab and was receiving treatment. However, he spoke openly about how he doubted whether he could stay clean. However, despite it all, Sharon has stayed in his corner — and likely will.

After his relapse, Sharon told the Newmans that Nick was overwhelmed with guilt. However, Nick has Sharon and those who love him to support him during this trying time.

These new Young and the Restless spoilers hint that Nick’s addiction storyline might not be over yet, though it’s clear Nick is struggling to stay sober. It’s hard not to point out that when Nick reached his breaking point, Sharon was the one who he reached out to. Nick and Sharon have always had each other’s backs, even when they hated each other, and though they might not be together now, their connection will always remain.

It’s also hard to ignore that Sharon was the one to bring him back to treatment. Now, according to these new Young and the Restless spoilers, she is the one to be updated on his treatment. Could this mean that Nick and Sharon are finally going to find their way back to each other?

The two are one of the most popular pairings in Y&R history. Though these new spoilers don’t hint that they will, indeed, fall back in love with each other, we can’t help but hope!
