Recently on Young and the Restless, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) has been acting pretty off, hasn’t he? While he’s been understandably upset over his son’s kidnapping, Devon has also gone out of his way to try to take down Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) legally… and all without checking with his wife, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), first.
Abby herself has questioned what’s going on with Devon. The last time they spoke — or, rather, fought — Abby questioned where all of this anger from Devon was coming from. She understands he’s upset and fearful about Dominic’s kidnapping. However, she also feels he’s going out of his way to try to make Mariah pay, even though she has already received a plea deal and is in a mental hospital trying to get help.
Furthermore, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) has also been pretty taken aback by how Devon has acted. So, could this just be Devon trying to come to terms with something as terrifying as having his son kidnapped by his close friend… or is something seriously going on with Devon that will turn into a huge new Young and the Restless storyline?
Y&R Rumors: Something’s Wrong With Devon
Now, Devon hasn’t been acting too out of character on Young and the Restless. It’s not like he’s acting as if he has multiple personalities or anything soapy like that! However, after Abby and Lily both seemed rather taken aback by him recently, we can’t help but wonder if something more is going on.
We must remember that this is a soap opera. So, could Devon’s anger be a sign of a future storyline? Devon’s anger towards Mariah is one thing. We’ve already analyzed that. But look at how he has treated Lily since she returned to town. While both Devon and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) were both understandably upset that Lily allowed herself and her kids to be kidnapped by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) without telling them, Nate has come to terms with it all.
Devon hasn’t. In fact, he recently acted rather cruelly to her about a work meeting right when she was in the thick of dealing with Malcolm Winters’ (Shemar Moore) illness. Lily was shocked by his tone, as was Nate. Again, this could be nothing… or it could be a hint of what is to come. Young and the Restless rumors are swirling that Devon’s next storyline could follow these bursts of anger.
So, what’s really going on with Devon? Is this something simple that he will be able to resolve himself? Maybe he just feels so out of control lately, like he can’t help anyone, and that’s where this anger is coming from? Or are we looking at a serious storyline here? Perhaps involving a brain tumor that’s making him act differently? Crazier things have happened in a soap!
Even if these angry outbursts are nothing, Devon still has a ways to go to come to terms with all that has happened with Dominic, Mariah, and even Lily. Will he be able to work things out with Abby on Young and the Restless? If he remains mad and lashing out at everyone, it doesn’t seem likely…
